Who is MVM?

MVM(自2011年起便過著遊牧生活)來自菲律賓奎松市,是一位視覺藝術家,創作媒材涵蓋數位藝術(包含照片合成與數位繪畫)、藝術裝置,近期也投入壓克力繪畫創作。他的作品多以身份認同、記憶與人類處境為主題。他的數位藝術作品常帶有超現實與夢境般的意象,融合了人性、自然與科技元素。

在他的多數作品中,人物常透過現實與幻想交錯的場景呈現,營造出一種神祕與好奇的氛圍,使觀者不禁想探索主角的故事,甚至思索他們所凝視的對象為何。Manalo 的創作也探討人與環境之間的關係,經常描繪人物在孤立或脆弱狀態下的存在,並置於更大的時空背景中。他的作品邀請觀眾反思自身的經驗與對世界的感知,同時也探索人與環境間的深層連結。

他曾在多國展出,包括:澳洲、英國、德國、喬治亞、義大利、日本、立陶宛、菲律賓、波蘭、塞爾維亞、南韓、台灣、英國與美國等地。Manalo 獲得過多項藝術獎項,包括:

  • 2010年獲義大利奇安恰諾泰爾梅美術館(Art Museum of Chianciano Terme)數位藝術類首獎

  • 2011年獲美國華盛頓Redmond Digital Arts Festival「最佳攝影插畫獎」

  • 2015年獲英國Curious Duke Gallery舉辦的Secret Art Prize第二名

  • 2014年獲新加坡美術館提名參加 APBF Signature Art Prize

  • 並於2014年與2017年獲馬來西亞 Top 10 Publications 選為「亞洲十大最具啟發性的視覺藝術家」之一

  • 2020年入圍義大利 Arte Laguna Prize

 

近年來他與 GIANT 合作,將員工的騎行經驗與人生故事轉化為藝術自行車創作。2021年他設計了一台象徵台中市的自行車,於「Taichung Chill」活動開幕時展出。2022年他在香山濕地打造了一座聲音/視覺藝術裝置空間,讓觀眾可以聆聽當地的環境聲響。他在該年度也參與了多場展覽,包括:義大利 Arte Laguna Prize、巴黎羅浮宮(Focus Art Fair)、香山濕地藝術節、以及高雄光藝術節,並在台灣其他地區展出。

從2023年到現在,他參加了台北夜間藝術市集、Art Formosa、Young Art 高雄、台北插畫藝術節、菲律賓藝術博覽會(Art Fair Philippines)與 INNO Art,並售出多件作品。他也為台中康乃爾國際學校設計了一座城堡式建築。

他在台中期間創立了一個名為「藝術工廠 / Art Factory」的空間,邀請藝術家展出作品與分享創作故事,同時也舉辦多場工作坊,內容從回收藝術、到單車創作等皆有涉獵。他也為 **意展藝術空間(Yizhan Art Gallery)**創作了「山羊作品(Ram Piece)」,並即將在 2024年11月的 Free Art Fair 展出他的新裝置作品。

2025年,他從台中搬到台北,目前正籌備於台北、台中與新竹畫廊舉辦的新一輪藝術展覽。

From Quezon City, Philippines. MVM (he has been nomadic since 2011) is a visual artist who does digital art through photo-manipulation and digital paintings, he also does art installations and recently, acrylic paintings. The work that he does implies themes of identity, memory, and the human condition. His digital artworks often feature surreal and dreamlike imagery that combines elements of humanity, nature and technology. In most of his work, the subjects are represented through a mix of imagined and realistic scenic images that tries to create a sense of intrigue and curiosity in the viewer, as they are left to wonder about the subject's story and in some cases what they might be looking at. Manalo's artworks also explore the relationship between humans and their environment, often showing figures in various states of vulnerability or isolation within a larger context. His work invites the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and perceptions of the world, while also exploring the interconnectedness of humans and their environment. In the past he has exhibited in several countries - Australia, England, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Philippines, Poland, Serbia, South Korea, Taiwan, UK and USA. He has also won a few prizes like the 2010 1st prize in the Digital Art Category at the Art Museum of Chianciano Terme, Italy and 2011 Best Photography Illustration from The Redmond Digital Arts Festival in Washington, USA, 2015 2nd place in the Secret Art Prize from the Curious Duke Gallery in London and Nominated for the APBF Signature Art Prize of 2014 from the Singapore Art Museum. He was also named as one of 2014 and 2017 Asia's Top Ten Most Inspiring Visual Artists in Asia by the Top 10 Publications in Malaysia. He was also a 2020 Arte Laguna Prize Finalist and recently he has worked with GIANT to create bicycles that are based on the stories and life experiences using bicycles of people that work in the cycling company GIANT. In 2021, he designed a bicycle which symbolizes Taichung city and was put on display for the opening of the Taichung Chill. In 2022, he built an audio/visual art installation space which amplifies the ambient sounds of the area in Xiangshan Wetlands. He also had several exhibitions in 2022 such as in Arte Laguna Prize, Italy, The Louvre Museum (Focus Art Fair), Xiangshan Wetlands Art Festival, and the Kaohsiung Light Art Festival and several more others in Taiwan. 2023 up to present he showed his work in Taipei Night Art Fair, Art Formosa, Young Art Kaohsiung and the Taipei Illustration Art Fair, Art Fair Philippines and INNO Art where he sold several of his works. He also designed a castle for the International School in Taichung called Kornell Ritz. During his stay in Taichung, he founded an art space called “藝術工廠/Art Factory” where he invites artists to showcase and share their artworks and stories, he also did several workshops from recycling to art and creating bicycle art. He worked on a “Ram Piece” for Yizhan Art Gallery and will show his new installation in the 2024 Free Art Fair in November. In 2025, he moved from Taichung to Taipei and is now preparing for a few art exhibitions in galleries in Taipei, Taichung and Hsinchu.
